Thinking of going to the dentist to bleach your teeth? Consider these teeth whitening home remedies first!
Yes, white teeth are an asset to behold; it gives a person a better smile, and more edge over others. For all you know, you could get hired in a job just because you had better teeth than your competition. However, teeth whitening or bleaching could cost you a lot. Fortunately, there are some home remedies for teeth whitening that we could all rely upon.
Why do our teeth darken over time anyway?
The yellowing or browning of our teeth is caused by a deposit of substances from coffee, sodas, tea, cigarettes and antibiotics over the years. Flouride can also be one of the factors. Or, if you recently had your braces removed, their might be some patches of dark color on areas that were covered by the braces. Here are some tips on do it yourself teeth whitening:
My father likes using natural-made stuff, even when it comes to teeth whiteners. His favorite teeeth whitening home remedy is baking soda. He mixes it with hydrogen peroxide, and when a sort of paste is formed, he brushes it on his teeth. This home remedy may not work right there and then, but if you continually use it, the results are hard to ignore. You get your pearly whites thoroughly cleaned, and your gums healthy too!
Another home remedy for whitening teeth is using bicarbonate of soda. Use it 5 minutes before brushing your teeth with regular toothpaste and you'll find your teeth a lot cleaner than not using it at all. If you like eating fruits, this next home remedy would be irrisistibly useful and convenient to you. Did you know that a number of fruits can help whiten our teeth the natural way? Take for example the apple cider vinegar. It's vinegar that obviously comes from apple, but has chemical properties that help in the whitening of our teeth. You can apply it by gargling a small amount during night time, or you can brush your teeth with it.Strawberries are also in the list of do it yourself teeth whitening. Simply rub the fruit to your teeth daily, and voila, your stains are gone! Also try using the bark of a walnut tree. I haven't tried that personally, but those who have, say that rubbing a portion on your teeth has excellent benefits.
Lemons or calamansi are also good teeth whiteners too. You can extract their juice and rub some on your teeth using a toothbrush to help clean out plaques and discoloration. And a common ingredient in the kitchen, the rock salt is also a home remedy for whitening teeth. Plus the good thing is, it does not only whiten, it also helps disinfect your mouth, and helps cure mouth and throat sores. Simply mix a pinch in lukewarm water then gargle.
Do this regularly to relieve sore throats and prevent bad breath.
Getting our teeth white the cheaper more natural way, will not just happen overnight. It will need time and discipline on our part. While getting our teeth whitened with these home remedies, we must also have a diet that helps reach our goal. This means avoiding coffee, colas, smoking, and other factors that could slow down, or render the treatment ineffective. If you want results right away, or if your teeth discoloration is caused by factors other than food, drinks or smoking, you should consult your dentist first before taking further steps or before using these teeth whitening home remedies.
